The two-day pre-season testing session for the 2008 International GT Open, that took place in the Circuito Ricardo Tormo near Valencia, achieved its main objective: to give an opportunity to teams and drivers to perform development work in racing conditions, ahead of the start of the season. Twenty-five cars showed up in Eastern Spain and could use to the fullest the eight hours of track activity, with perfect weather conditions, despite the strong wind.

Much to the delight of the participants of the V de V challenges, the inter-season break was not too long since the last meeting at Estoril in November and they will soon be returning to the Iberian Peninsula for the March meeting, which has now become a regular venue at the track north of Madrid, for the eleventh anniversary of this event.

The diversity of the cars entered at this start of season demonstrates the constant enthusiasm for this new challenge. Cars in the GTV2 category have the edge and new categories will appear as from the Val de Vienne event.
The 2007 win scored by Jean-Paul Pagny and Pierre Benoist has given them wings and they will start the new season with a Ferrari F430 (n°1). This entry marks the return of the Italian marque to this Challenge after a few occasional appearances initiated by François Jakubowski and François Labbarth these last few seasons.

The success of the challenge is indisputable and the provisional list of entries is already full for the season. The racing looks as though it's going to be fantastic, just like every year, with everyone aspiring to taking over from the triumphant British trio of 2007 composed of the Juno SSE campaigned by Adrian Mardlin and Rob Croydon.
They will need to stick to their strategy if they hope to win again. Apart from their compatriots running the same model, Graham Fennymore and Chris Bialan (n°88), Tony Freeman (n°30), Richard Bernans (n°51) all very fast, just like Chris Ward's team-mate who was outstanding in 2006, they will have to reckon with drivers from the Esprit Compétition team which acquired two identical chassis during the winter.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (March 11, 2008) - For generations, racing has been a family endeavor for many, following the bloodlines to the finish lines. That rare combination, however, has come to the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT Championship as Mike and Brandon Davis, of Huntington Beach, Calif., are entered in this week’s season opener, part of the 56th annual Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring.

This lineup of cars demonstrates the strength of the ALMS at the moment
It all started at the State of the Series annual media and constituent update session a little more than four months ago at Petit Le Mans in October 2007.
Scott Atherton, President and CEO of the American Le Mans Series, has coined a favorite line or two over the last several years - "If you only knew what we knew" followed by "It is not our news to announce. And while such comments may have been frustrating for some to hear, the Series has consistently delivered on the veiled promises, albeit on a schedule that has been dictated by others."
