Pontiac GT teams will receive extra factory support

Pontiac announced today that starting with the GAINSCO Grand Prix of Miami on March 29 the brand will offer contingency support to teams campaigning the Pontiac GXP.R in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 Rolex GT class.

Leighton Reese’s two-car Banner Engineering GXP.R team was joined this year by Autohaus Motorsports and Stevenson Motorsports with the race winning Pontiac GXP.R.

The race last weekend was a tight affair with the LMP2 Penske Porsche overcoming the LMP1 challenge from Audi and Peugeot as the two favourites for the events threw the race away with technical problems. They did not have the race their own way, however with the fight for the win extending well into the last hour and after the last pitstop.

The Barazi Epsilon Zytek came to America to prepare for the Le Mans Series season and to better prepare for the 2008, 24 Hours of Le Mans. But it did not all go so smoothly for the former Le Mans Series champions.
