The Audi claimed pole on a track that does not entirely suit their car

Marco Werner's affinity for street circuits shone again Friday. The Audi factory driver captured the overall pole position for Saturday's Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg presented by XM Satellite Radio with a record run, besting Penske Racing's Romain Dumas as Audi looked to regain its winning ways in the American Le Mans Series.

Alzen will line up 8th in Bahrain

Stuttgart. To open the season, René Rast (Germany) secured pole position for the first round of this year’s Porsche Mobil1 Supercup in Bahrain. At the second qualifying session, which determines the grid line up for the second round of the series on Sunday, the 20-year-old again set the quickest time. At his debut in the world’s fastest international one-make cup, the new-comer takes up both championship rounds from the front of the 26-strong field.

Team Peugeot Total has profited from its traditional press conference prior to the start of the 2008 Le Mans Series at Barcelona to specify its driver line-up for the Le Mans 24 Hours. It also announced the recruitment of a third driver for each of the two 908 HDi FAPs that will contest next May’s LMS round at Spa-Francorchamps.

An Entry For 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours For Winner Of 2008 Michelin Energy Endurance Challenge

At Barcelona (Spain) today, where teams have gathered for the first round of this year’s Le Mans Series, Michelin, the ACO and the LMS announced that the winner of the 2008 MEEC will automatically earn a place on the entry list for the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours. Within the framework of this year’s LMS, Michelin has decided to reward those teams which succeed in combining performance and energy efficiency at every one of the five races that make up the series. An Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) will be calculated after each race for all classified crews.

Peugeot have the upper hand after qualifying

Audi's Lucas Luhr passed Romain Dumas on a restart with three minutes left Saturday to give Audi a victory in the Acura Sports Car Challenge of St. Petersburg presented by XM Satellite Radio, the German manufacturer's first overall victory of 2008. Luhr teamed with Marco Werner in Audi Sport North America's No. 2 Audi R10 TDI as a diesel-powered prototype won on the streets of St. Petersburg for the second straight season.
