Simon Moulton Takes Command at Val de Vienne


Val de Vienne produced great racing in the THP Spider Cup

The third meeting of the year produced yet another change at the top of the championship standings, with Britain’s Simon Moulton easing past Julien Beltoise. Neither of these two drivers won a race at Val de Vienne. That honour went instead to Picardy-based drivers Julien Briché (Saturday) and Alexandre Rambure (Sunday), the latter notching up his first ever success in motor racing.

Norisring: Audi Retain Championship Lead + Results

Ingolstadt/Nuremberg – In front of 140,000 spectators (throughout the weekend) Audi maintained its lead in the DTM standings in Nuremberg. Finishing the race in third place, Timo Scheider defended his overall lead and gave Audi its first Norisring podium since 2005. With Mattias Ekström in fourth, and Tom Kristensen in seventh place, two other Audi drivers scored points.

1-2 Victory: Jamie Green Wins Ahead Of Bruno Spengler

* Jamie Green (Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class) won the fifth round of the 2008 DTM at the Norisring in Nuremberg. After 74 thrilling laps, he won 0.4sec ahead of Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG C-Class); it was the second 1-2 victory for Mercedes-Benz this year and the third win in a row after Jamie Green's and Paul Di Resta's 1-2 in Mugello and Di Resta's victory at the Lausitzring. At the Norisring, Mercedes-Benz clinched the sixth consecutive win. Mercedes-Benz won 144 out of the brand's 305 DTM-/ITC races since 1988.

Thruxton: Hector and Simonsen Take Out Round 9

Hector Lester and Allan Simonsen took the first win of the year for the Christians in Motorsport team in an incident packed race at Thruxton in Round of the 2008 Avon Tyres British GT Championship. Simonsen took the chequered flag over six seconds ahead of Aaron Scott in the ABG Motorsport Viper and a further 2.8 seconds in front of championship leader Jon Barnes in the Team Trimite Brookspeed Viper. Rob Austin and Hunter Abbott took the win in the GT4 class but a 10-second penalty for overtaking under yellows handed the win to Championship leaders Stewart Linn and Matt Nicol-Jones.

Thruxton: Serious Accident Mars Round 10


The start went without hitch, but lap 6 bought the race to a temporary halt

James Gornall and Jon Barnes extended their championship lead with victory in Round 10 of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Thruxton, leading home Jeremy Metcalfe and Luke Hines in a 30-minute shortened race. Nigel Moore and Joe Osborne took the honours in GT4, ahead of championship leaders Stewart Linn and Matt Nicol-Jones.

Statement on the Condition of Injured British GT Racer - Bradley Ellis

Bradley Ellis (car no. 52) suffered a serious accident at Thruxton circuit (Hampshire), Sunday 29 June, in the Team RPM Ginetta G4 during round 10 of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship. The incident happened on lap four at Woodham Hill, approaching the Club chicane, where a rear impact sent Bradley off the track and into a marshals’ post at high speed.
