Pirelli GT Championship Announces Series Changes


The Pirelli Gran Turismo Championship set to expand in a tough Australian GT environment

Following the successful debut this year of the “Pirelli Gran Turismo Championship” grids are set to expand as promoters Trofeo Motorsport release the eligibility list for their second class “Sportsman.” Aimed at a lower power-to-weight ratio than the existing GT cars already contesting the series, the Sportsman class will be open to European GT4 class type cars, selected ex-Performance Car category class cars and other volume manufactured sports cars with limited modifications. All sportsman cars will use Pirelli slick control tyres.

Le Mans: Jos Menten Test Day Recap

Team Modena worked hard these last few weeks preparing the Aston Martin DBR9 for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The technical crew, led by Hans Muehlbauer, travelled down to the test day with the car in perfect and due form. On the other hand ideal weather conditions at Le Mans were not on hand. Intermittent rain and sunshine set the scene on an eventful training session, with several red flag interruptions. Team Modena's programme was also disrupted, because Jos Menten was unable to complete a single lap on a dry track.

Snetteron: Team Modena Return to Scene of Gallardo Debut

Team Modena return to Snetterton in Norfolk for this weekend's (June 7th and 8th) rounds of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship - scene of their debut in the series last year and where the Gallardo announced itself on the British scene by setting a new lap record. Now up to full strength with a pair of Lamborghini Gallardos, the team will be aiming to use their year's experience to go one better than the second place they recorded at Rockingham in the previous meeting.
