Motegi: Firman Secures Pole for Yellowhat NSX

Yuji Tachikawa scored tenth for the Zent Lexus

Qualifying second was the No. 1 ARTA NSX (Ralph Firman), which had held the fastest time until it was bettered by Quintarelli near the end of the session. Meanwhile, the 3rd position went to the No. 6 ENEOS SC430 driven by Bjorn Wirdheim, who bettered his time on the last timed lap to win the team its best grid position of the season. These results gave the GT-R, NSX and SC430 a place among the top three.

The two qualifying sessions at Brno proved one thing: no matter how long the circuit, when you give 40 cars just 20 minutes to go for pole position, traffic will be a problem for everyone. At the end of the sessions, which set the grid for rounds 7 and 8 of the FIA GT3 European Championship, almost every driver said that they hadn’t managed to find a clear lap – and yet, the times were still significantly quicker than last year.

Brno: Aston Martin and Corvette Dominate Race 1

There was plenty of action and damaged cars in race 1

All through the free practice sessions at Brno, the Aston Martin DBRS9 looked like the car to beat; so it proved in round 7 of the FIA GT3 European Championship, when the No 17 Brixia Racing Aston Martin of Diego Alessi and Marcello Zani led home Jean-Claude Lagniez and Fred Makowiecki in the No.10 Hexis Racing Aston Martin; third place went to the Czech pair of Martin Matzke and Jiri Skula, in the No.38 MM-Racing Corvette Z.06R GT3.

His Jetalliance Aston Martin DBR9 set a time of 1:51.675, a full second faster than the nr 6 Phoenix Carsport Racing Corvette C6R driven by Mike Hezemans.

Audi are still Peugeot but have closed the gap

Peugeot locked out the front row of the grid for the fifth and final race of the 2008 Le Mans Series at Silverstone. Stephane Sarrazin set a new qualifying record of 1m30.359s to beat his team-mate Nicolas Minassian by one hundredth of a second. Minassian recovered from a collision with Xavier Pompidou's Speedy Racing Lola which damaged the rear of the 908 Hdi FAP in which he, and co-driver Marc Gene, have won twice to lead the series.
