Infineon: Suntrust Finally Gets a Reward in a Tough Season


The Valiante and Angelelli and the rest of the team got reward in a tough year

SONOMA, Calif. (Aug. 23, 2008) - In a season where just about everything has gone wrong for the SunTrust Racing team in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16, everything went right for Michael Valiante and Max Angelelli Saturday at Infineon Raceway. Valiante led the opening 24 laps before handing over the No. 10 Pontiac Dallara to Angelelli, who led the final 58 laps to win the Armed Forces 250. The Daytona Prototype race will be televised Sunday at noon ET.

Mosport: Goring Takes Flag to Flag Win

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario. August 23 – Jonathan Goring, Torrington, Conn., led from flag to flag in the 30-minute IMSA Lites presented by Hankook race at Mosport International Raceway, a 10-turn, 2.5-mile course outside of Toronto.

The first qualifying session started at 9:50 in the morning. The rain that had been falling since the night before had turned into a drizzle by start time but never stopped and the track was completely wet. The temperature at start time was 22 degrees C., with a track temperature of 23 degrees C.

Mosport: Herr Takes Mosport Pole for SPEED Touring Car

CANADA (Aug. 23, 2008) – Chip Herr, of Lititz, Pa., captured his third pole of the season in preparation for Sunday’s SPEED Touring Car Presented by Toyo Tires race. Teammate Michal Galati, of Olmsted , Ohio , made it an all-Tindol Motorsports front row for Round Nine of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship, part of the Mobil 1 Presents the Grand Prix of Mosport at Mosport International Raceway.

Mosport: Curran Scores First 2008 SPEED GT Pole for Corvette in Canada

CANADA (Aug. 23, 2008) – Eric Curran, of East Hampton, Mass., captured his first SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT Championship pole of the season and will lead the field for Saturday evening’s Mosport SPEED GT Round Seven race Presented by Toyo Tires, part of the Mobil 1 Presents the Grand Prix of Mosport. Randy Pobst, of Gainesville , Ga. , will start second.

The first-ever one-hour race in the history of the FIA GT Championship was a close and exciting battle around the Bucharest streets. And the win, after a close battle with their team-mates, went to Swiss drivers Deletraz and Fässler in their Phoenix Carsport Corvette, who crossed the line0.6 seconds ahead of the nr 6 Corvette of Gollin and Hezemans.

Mosport: Audi Take the Front Row with Record Times

Audi Sport North America's Dindo Capello made Mosport International Raceway the fastest circuit in the American Le Mans Series with a stunning lap time of 1:04.094 (138.116 mph) in qualifying Saturday for the Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport. Capello smashed his own previous record at the track by 1.735 seconds, one of 10 cars to go under last year's pole time.
