      This weekend at Queensland Raceway, two rare Porsches are on display. The first for our gallery is the Porsche 935 of Le Mans legends, Jacky Ickx and Joachan Mass. This car, usually located in Porsche's Stuttgart Museum raced, is chassis #Porsche 935/77 2.0 (chassis 935/2-001).       This weekend at Queensland Raceway, two rare Porsches are on display. The second gallery is the Porsche GT1 Road Car that was created in order to achieve homologation for Le Mans in the late 1990s. This car is on loan from Porsche's Stuttgart Museum and is one of 25 examples made.

    • LM24: Strakka Racing Race Report:

      The final hours of the 78th Le Mans 24 Hours ran every gamut of emotion, from the abject despair of Peugeot, to the euphoric delight of those who won their classes. Strakka Racing is proud not only to have won LMP2 at the team’s first attempt, but to have done so in dominant style; leading from pole to finish; setting a new class lap record; completing the greatest distance ever covered by an LMP2 car; crossing the line in the highest position yet achieved in LMP2 (5th overall), and winning the Michelin Green X Challenge award for Le Mans 2010.

    • LM24: Larbre Competition Race Report:

      At the end of his 18th attempt in the 24 Heures of LeMans, team Larbre Compétition has signed a victory quite simply history. First private team to win GT1 category GT1, Larbre Compétition puts thus fine at one domination era of factory teams like Corvette Racing, Aston Martin Racing or Chyrsler.

    • LM24: Rebellion Racing Race Report:

      The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2010 saw an unusually high number of "Did Not Finishes" even amongst the Factory cars in the LMP1 category (only five LMP1 cars finished compared to eighteen on the starting grid). Unfortunately for REBELLION Racing, both of their cars were amongst those that failed to make it to the chequered flag.

    • LM24: RML AD Race Report:

      RML AD Group at Le Mans 2010. Photo: David Lord, Dailysportscar The RML AD Group Lola HPD, driven by Mike Newton, Thomas Erdos and Andy Wallace, added another Le Mans LMP2 podium to their tally by finishing third in this year's 78th Le Mans 24 Hours. The team won the class in 2005 and 2006, but despite a near perfect run last weekend, couldn't match the outright pace of 2010 winners Strakka Racing.

    • LM24: Team Bruichladdich Race Report:

      Once again the 78th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours was the race of all thrills and feats, and also of all satisfactions for Team Bruichladdich and drivers Tim Greaves, Karim Ojjeh and Gary Chalandon.

      Pegasus Racing overcame all the obstacles in its path to be at the start of the Le Mans 24 Hours. The fledgling team from Strasbourg and its new car handled their Sarthe debut with all the expertise of a well-honed top-level endurance squad. But a misunderstanding on the track led to the French car's retirement in a race in which the favourites also had their fair share of misfortune!

      In 2009 Peugeot took the `double' at the 24 Heures du Mans. In 2010 Peugeot was up against a redoubtable adversary. The decider will be played next year, promised Olivier Quesnel, Director of Peugeot Sport.

      The No.4 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP battle for a podium position in the 24 Hours of Le Mans until 80 minutes from the finish...

    • LM24: Oreca Aim Race Report:

      The AIM Team Matmut had set one objective for the 24 Hours of Le Mans: repeat their performance from last year. The team accomplished their mission as Soheil Ayari, Didier Andre and Andy Meyrick finish the grueling race in fourth place overall and first in the petrol-powered cars, ahead of Aston Martin. After finishing in fifth in 2009, the ORECA 01, now with Dunlop tyres, confirms its strengths, both in reliability and performance.

    • LM24: Drayson Race Report:

      - To those who know Le Mans, they know the intangible "Spirit of Le Mans" that permeates the event. A special drive to succeed, to overcome any obstacle in pursuit of finishing the 24 hours. Drayson Racing personified "The Spirit of Le Mans" at this weekend's 24 Heures du Mans. Despite a myriad of obstacles put in front of them, the team behind the No. 11 Drayson Racing Lola Coupé with Judd Power never wavered in its commitment to see the chequered flag at the conclusion of the 12-13 June classic. It was a determination rewarded by finishing as the sixth highest Le Mans Prototype One (LM P1) with the trio of drivers: Paul Drayson (London and Gloucestershire, UK), Jonny Cocker (Guisborough, Yorks, UK) and Emanuele Pirro (Rome).

    • LM24: Lola Race Report:

      The Lola-HPD LMP2 Coupe of RML took a richly merited 3rd place podium result at the 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours. In one of the most gruelling races of recent years the red, white and blue Lola, driven by Mike Newton, Tommy Erdos and Andy Wallace ran an excellent race, which also saw then claim an incredible 8th position overall.

      Le Mans, 13 June 2010. Despite proving to be the fastest petrol-powered car at the Le Mans 24 Hours this year, Aston Martin’s hopes of claiming the accolade of top petrol competitor were cruelly dashed by scenes of barely believable drama in the closing hour.

      Le Mans LE MANS, FRANCE, Sunday, June 13, 2010: Highcroft Racing completed its goal of finishing the toughest endurance sportscar race in the world today at the 24 Hours of Le Mans - but the reigning American Le Mans Series LMP1 champions discovered why the classic event is the ultimate test of man and machine.

      The Ginetta-Zytek of Team Bruichladdich has finished in the top 10 at this year's Le Mans 24-hour race while three of the top seven cars in the LMP2 category used Zytek's highly successful 3.4-litre ZG348 engine.

    • LM24: Honda Performance Division Race Report:

      First and Third-Place Finishes in Inaugural Attempt at 24-Hour Classic TORRANCE, Calif. (June 13, 2010) - In its first attempt at one of the toughest challenges in motorsports, Honda Performance Development (HPD), the racing arm of American Honda Motor Company, Inc., powered the first- and third-place finishers in the LMP2 category Sunday at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

    • LM24: Spyker Race Report:

      LE MANS, JUNE 13 - For the second time in a row Spyker Squadron finished the Le Mans 24 Hours in the top 10. In the 78th edition of the famous endurance race the team overcame several serious problems and eventually finished the race in ninth place in the GT2 category.

    • LM24: Corvette Race Report:

      Corvette Racing's bid for its first GT2 title in the 24 Hours of Le Mans ended Sunday morning at 9:42 a.m. when the No. 64 Corvette C6.R retired with an apparent engine problem. Driver Oliver Gavin nursed the car to a marshal's station at Mulsanne corner, where it was pushed behind the barriers and officially retired.

    • LM24: OAK Racing Race Report:

      OAK Racing Team Mazda France continued their incredible run of form at the Le Mans 24 Hours in recent years with a third consecutive podium finish.

    • Young Driver AMR Race Report:

      Young Driver AMR had a successful debut at the 24h of Le Mans. In the first start of the new team at the French endurance classic, Christoffer Nygaard (DK), Tomas Enge (CZ) and Peter Kox (NL) brought the Young Driver-Aston Martin DBR9 home in third place in the GT1-class in front of 238.150 spectators. In total, the three Young Driver AMR-drivers raced 4238 km (311 laps) on the epic track in Le Mans in 24 hours, a combination of public roads and permanent racetrack.

    • LM24: Marc VDS Race Report:

      They started the Le Mans 24 Hours as second of the GT1-cars, but the Ford GT of the Marc VDS Racing Team did not go all the way in the French classic, after a crash on Saturday.

    • LM24: Matech Race Report:

      At 00:15 am, Thomas Mutsch came back to the stand after having had an encounter at the back of the car with an LMP2. Brought to a standstill for one hour and five minutes, Thomas left the steering wheel to Jonathan Hirschi who went back to the track at the same time as the Corvette C6.R which has also been brought to a standstill for long minutes.

    • LM24: Porsche Race Report:

      Stuttgart. The success story of the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR continues: After winning the 24 hour race in Dubai and holding the championship lead of the Le Mans Series and the American Le Mans Series, the most successful GT racer of 2009 has now won the GT2 class of the Le Mans 24 hour race. This victory at the 78th running of the 24 hour race in Le Mans marks the 98th success for Porsche at the prestigious long distance classic. For the ninth time, a race car based on the street legal 911 GT3 prevailed over its rivals. Positions three, five, seven and eight also went to drivers of the 450 hp Porsche. Moreover, the winning 911 also clinched the environmental “Michelin Green X Challenge” award as the GT car with the best efficiency.

    • LM24: BMW Race Report:

      Le Mans, 13th June 2010. Team BMW Motorsport experienced a turbulent return to the Le Mans 24 Hours. Lady luck did not necessarily smile on the two BMW M3 GT2s. Car number 78, with Jörg Müller (DE), Augusto Farfus (BR) and Uwe Alzen (DE) alternating at the wheel, completed 320 laps to finish sixth in the LM GT2 class in front of 240,000 spectators.

    • Ferrari Race Report:

      Le Mans, 13 June – A Ferrari F30GTC, maybe the least expected one, made it to the podium in the LMGT2 category in the Le Mans 24 Hours. The Hankook Farnbacher car numer 89, crewed by Simonsen-Farnbacher-Keen, finished second behind the Porsche of Lieb-Lietz-Henzler.

    • BMW 22 Hour Report:

      Le Mans, 13th June 2010. The Le Mans 24 Hours is entering the crucial final phase. Team BMW Motorsport suffered another set-back with four hours to go when Jörg Müller (DE), at that point in fourth place in his BMW M3 GT2, came into the pits with a faulty drive shaft. The team worked feverishly to get the car back onto the track as quickly as possible. Müller rejoined the race 35 minutes later. The no. 78 BMW M3 GT2 is now in sixth place in the LM GT2 class.

    • Aston Martin 21 Hour Report:

      Le Mans, 13 June 2010. With only three hours remaining, Aston Martin is poised for another top result at the Le Mans 24 Hours. Aston Martin 009 is currently sixth in the hands of Darren Turner, as the race draws to a thrilling conclusion in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

    • Peugeot 21 Hour Report:

      The hours roll by but the pace does not diminish. The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP No 1 goes flat out to fight for victory all the way to the last lap of the 78th edition of the 24H du Mans. Third after 21 hours of racing, Anthony Davidson, Marc Gené and Alexander Wurz continue to pull back time and are increasingly menacing. Fifth, the Peugeot Oreca adopts the same race philosophy.

      # Audi maintains 1-2 lead

    • Peugeot 18 Hour Report - Retirement of #2:

      At 7h02 flames start to shoot out of the rear right hand side of the leading car, the Peugeot 908 being driven, at that moment, by Frank Montagny. Car No 2's race is over. With the retirement of car No3, also in the lead at the moment it was forced to pull out, car No 1 remains the sole surviving Team Peugeot Total entry.

    • Aston Martin 18 Hour Report:

      Le Mans, 13 June 2010. With just six hours remaining of this year's Le Mans 24 Hours -- the time equivalent of a complete Le Mans Series race -- the lead 007 Aston Martin has been hit with a transmission problem.

    • Corvette 18 Hour Report:

      LE MANS, France, June 13, 2010 -- The No. 63 Corvette C6.R retired from the 24 Hours of Le Mans shortly after 7 a.m. this morning after completing 225 laps. Antonio Garcia was on his out-lap after replacing Johnny O'Connell in a routine pit stop when he reported a noise entering Mulsanne corner. Telemetry confirmed a problem, and the engine expired before he reached Indianapolis corner.

    • BMW 17 Hour Report:

      Le Mans, 13th June 2010. The no. 78 BMW M3 GT2 is currently seventh in the LM GT2 class at the Le Mans 24 Hours (FR). With seven hours to go, Augusto Farfus (BR) is at the wheel of the 500 bhp GT sports car, following on after stints from Uwe Alzen (DE) and Jörg Muller (DE) at the "Circuit de la Sarthe". The BMW M3 GT2 Art Car retired from the race on Saturday evening.

    • Krohn Risi Retirement Report:

      There was to be no repeat of the fairy tale finish experienced by Risi Competizione at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the last two years, as both cars were retired from the race by the 16th hour. It also brings to an end the wonderful run of six GT2 endurance victories enjoyed by the Houston-based privateer team since June 2008.

    • Peugeot 15 Hour Report:

      As dawn breaks over the Le Mans circuit the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP No 2 is still in the lead after 15 hours of racing and is managing its lead. The gap has steadied but the race is far from decided. Car No 1 continues to edge towards the podium. Team Oreca's Peugeot remains sixth.

      Le Mans, 13 June 2010. As dawn broke over the La Sarthe region, the Aston Martin LMP1 cars maintained their stranglehold over the top three 'petrol' places in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

    • Peugeot 12 Hour Report:

      Halfway through the race, the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP No 2 of Nicolas Minassian, Franck Montagny and Stephane Sarrazin occupies first place. Despite an excursion in the gravel trap, car No 1 (Davidson/Gene/Wurz) continues to close on the leaders at 2h33 moves up to fourth place. The Peugeot Oreca has been delayed by the replacement to part of the transmission.

    • Spyker Squadron 12 Hour Report:

      LE MANS, JUNE 13, 03:00 - At the halfway point of the Le Mans 24 Hours Spyker Squadron is twelfth in the GT2 category. After bad luck in the opening hours the team and the drivers picked up the threads again and are now fully back in the right rhythm.

    • Aston Martin 12 Hour Report:

      Le Mans, 13 June 2010. The two Works Aston Martins have been racing for 12 hours, with both cars showing pace and reliability in what is widely acknowledged to be the toughest motor race in the world. Adrian Fernandez completed his second set of stints without incident before handing over 007 to Harold Primat, in seventh overall.

    • Young Driver AMR 12 Hour Report:

      Young Driver AMR is in the recovery mode after a turbulent start into the 24h of Le Mans. After leading the GT1-class in the first hour of the race, a broken driveshaft cost 60 minutes in the pits. Beside the problem with the driveshaft, the Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin DBR9 of Christoffer Nygaard (DK), Tomas Enge (CZ) and Peter Kox (NL) is running like clockwork. At the 12h-mark, the Young Driver AMR-team is running fourth in the GT1-class and has recorded 2098 km in 154 laps so far.

      Le Mans LE MANS, FRANCE, Sunday, June 13, 2010: At the half way mark of the world's toughest endurance race, Highcroft Racing has kicked off a fightback at Le Mans after suffering an unfortunate series of debris inflicted punctures.

      Former Le Mans winner Guy Smith suffered disappointment in this year's 24 Hour race staged this weekend (12-13 June).

    • Risi Competizione 10 Hour Report:

      The No. 82 Risi Competizione Ferrari F430 GTC will have no opportunity in 2010 to challenge for a third consecutive GT2 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans; the car has been retired in the 10th hour of the race due to gear selection problems.

    • Peugeot 9 Hour Report:

      While holding the lead, the Peugeot No 1 of Davidson/Gene/Wurz losses 13 minutes with an alternator and starter motor change. As a result the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP No 2 of Minassian/Montagny/Sarrazin takes over the lead after nine hours of racing, ahead of the Oreca Peugeot. Slipping down to seventh, car No 1 starts to claw its way back as night sets in.

    • Corvette 9 Hour Report:

      LE MANS, France, June 12, 2010 -- Competition in the GT2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans took an eventful turn in the hours before midnight. After a safety car period had threatened to split the GT2 field, a brilliant battle broke out between Oliver Gavin in the No. 64 Compuware Corvette C6.R and Jaime Melo in the No. 82 Risi Competizione Ferrari 430 GTC. The fight for first was finally resolved when the Ferrari went to the garage with a reported gearbox problem. The No. 63 Compuware Corvette C6.R then pulled back into contention with a strategic triple stint by Jan Magnussen.

    • BMW Art Car Retirement Report:

      Le Mans, 12th June 2010. The BMW M3 GT2 Art Car has retired early from the Le Mans 24 Hours (FR). Despite the fact Andy Priaulx (GB) should have been able to finish the lap without any problems, based on the amount of fuel calculated to have been put into the car at the previous pit stop, he ran out of fuel on the way into the Indianapolis curve. The exact cause is yet to be analysed. Car number 79 had already lost a lot of time due to unscheduled pit stops for repairs.

    • Aston Martin 9 Hour Report:

      Le Mans, 13 June 2010. As midnight came and went, the two Works Aston Martin drivers who started the race were back behind the wheel of the Gulf-liveried LMP1 cars. Aston Martin 007, guided through the darkness by Stefan Mucke, held seventh place while Darren Turner maintained eighth in the 009 machine.

    • Peugeot 6 Hour Report:

      Six hours into the race the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP No1 of Marc Gene, Anthony Davidson and Alexander Wurz leads ahead of the No2, driven by Nicolas Minassian, Franck Montagny and Stephane Sarrazin. The gap between the two Team Peugeot Total cars increases with the intervention of the safety car. The Peugeot of Team Oreca holds third place and is also maintaining a good pace.

    • Highcroft 6 Hour Report:

      Le Mans LE MANS, FRANCE, Saturday, June 12, 2010: Highcroft Racing took the LMP2 class lead just after the six-hour mark in the American team's debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

    • Corvette Racing Le Mans Six-Hour Report:

      LE MANS, France, June 10, 2010 -- Corvette Racing's Compuware Corvette C6.R race cars ran consistently at the front of the GT2 class throughout the first quarter of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The sixth hour featured an intense battle for P1 between Emmanuel Collard in the No. 64 Corvette C6.R and Pierre Kaffer in the No. 82 Ferrari 430 GTC. After running within a car length for lap after lap, the duel was ended by a pit stop during a safety car period that temporarily split the two racers. The No. 63 Corvette C6.R was holding third after six hours of racing.

    • Flying Lizards Retire their #80 Porsche:

      Flying Lizard No. 80 Retired from 24 Heures du Mans in Hour 4 June 12, 2010 -- Circuit de la Sarthe -- The Flying Lizard No. 80 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Joerg Bergmeister, Darren Law and Seth Neiman was retired from the 24 Heures du Mans due to mechanical issues. After starting ninth on the grid, all three drivers cycled uneventfully through their stints until halfway through hour 4, when an incident damaged the right radiator. The crew replaced the radiator and front undertray and repaired some minor body damage. Unfortunately, after one outlap, the car had to return to the garage again and was retired due to unrepairable mechanical issues.

    • Risi Competizione 6 Hour Report:

      By the quarter distance mark in the 78th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Risi Competizione had demonstrated its class by coming through from the back of the starting grid to hold the lead in the highly competitive GT2 class.

    • Aston Martin 6 Hour Report:

      Le Mans, 12 June 2010. Aston Martin has continued to make progress as the first quarter of the Le Mans 24 Hours draws to a close. Harold Primat (CH) is now at the wheel of the 007 car, which has climbed to sixth place overall thanks to another fast and incident-free run.

    • BMW 4 Hour Report:

      Le Mans, 12 June 2010. The Le Mans 24 Hours is underway. BMW M3 GT2 number 78 is in the top ten of the LM GT2 category. Jorg Muller (DE) got the team off to a good start, driving two stints before handing the car over to Augusto Farfus (BR) on lap 28. After a further pit stop, the Brazilian is currently in ninth.

    • 'Spirit of Le Mans' - Roland du Luart:

      Every year, a special 'Spirit of Le Mans' trophy is presented by the ACO to personalities who best embody the spirit of the 24 Heures of Le Mans. This prestigious trophy is a Rolex timepiece that has the words 'Spirit of Le Mans' and the name of the recipient engraved on the underside of the watch case.

    • Peugeot 3 Hour Report:

      Three hours into the race the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP No2 (Minassian/Montagny/Sarrazin) leads car No1 (Davidson/Gene/Wurz) while car No3 of Bourdais, Lamy and Pagenaud has retired following a broken front right suspension fix point which damaged the carbon fibre monocoque. In third place now is the Peugot 908 of Team Oreca.

    • RSR Jaguar Retires:

      Le Mans, France (June 12, 2010) - Le Mans marked Jaguar's return to motorsport. This was the much anticipated fourth race for the RSR team. We would like to thank the ACO and have been delighted with the support we have had from the public and the media.

    • Ferrari Statement on Risi Competizione Penalty:

      Maranello, 11 June -- A hard knock for the Risi Competizione crew at the end of last night's qualifying for the Le Mans 24 Hours: having dominated the long qualifying session to decide the grid for this historic race which starts tomorrow at 15.00, one of the two F430 GT2 cars entered by Ferrari of Houston, crewed by Jaime Melo, Gimmi Bruni and Pierre Kaffer, was knocked back from first to last place on the grid because the stewards deemed the rear wing did not conform to the regulations.

    • Peugeot Take Front 2 Rows at Le Mans:

      For the fourth time in as many years a Peugeot 908 HDi FAP takes pole for tomorrow's 78th 24 Heures du Mans, with the team's three cars occupying the first three places just ahead of Team Oreca's Peugeot in fourth. Changeable weather on the second day of qualifying prevented a new battle for the top spot but allowed Team Peugeot Total to concentrate on perfecting their set up in preparation for Saturday's 15h00 start.

    • Audi banks on efficiency at Le Mans:

      Ingolstadt/Le Mans, June 11, 2010 - Audi Sport Team Joest fully concentrated on race preparations at the Le Mans 24 Hours on Wednesday and Thursday. The three Audi R15 TDI cars did not actively participate in the chase for times in qualifying. Instead the Audi squad used every available minute to fine-tune the set-up of the cars for the race.

      Prepare well for the race: this was the philosophy of the AIM Team ORECA Matmut as they began qualifying sessions for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Soheil Ayari, Didier André and Andy Meyrick did just that: third in the petrol prototypes between the Aston Martins, the ORECA 01 fits the trio of drivers and the spirit of their driving: have a smart race with no mistakes.

      RML AD Group's Lola B09/83 HPD will start from third in LMP2 for this weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours, making it a clean sweep of the qualifying "podium" for Honda Performance Development. Having worked assiduously with the engineers to perfect a race set-up for the car, Brazilian Thomas Erdos came through with a best of 3:39.648 to secure the team's best grid position since he took pole in 2006.

    • Four Zytek-engined Prototypes to Start at Le Mans:

      The four Zytek-engined teams competing in the Le Mans 24-hour race all completed qualifying yesterday and now look forward to this weekend's round-the clock contest. With one of the car entered in the LMP1 class, the other three in LMP2, the quartet finished 18th, 21st, 25th and 29th overall in a highly competitive field of 56.

    • Corvette Racing Qualifies One-Two in GT2 at 24 Hours of Le Mans:

      LE MANS, France, June 10, 2010 -- Corvette Racing took the top two spots on the qualifying list in its debut in the GT2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Oliver Gavin improved his time in the Thursday night session to 3:59.435 in the No. 64 Compuware Corvette C6.R. The Risi Competizione Ferrari, which had been on the provisional GT2 pole, was subsequently disqualified for a technical infraction, promoting Gavin to the No. 1 spot in GT2. Jan Magnussen also posted a quicker lap at 3:59.793 to put the No. 63 Compuware Corvette C6.R second in the GT2 category. The two Corvettes and the No. 95 AF Corse Ferrari were the only GT2 cars to qualify under four minutes on the 8.47-mile circuit.

    • Jaguar Makes the Grid at Le Mans:

      (June 11, 2010) - The second and third qualifying sessions for the Le Mans 24 Hours saw the JaguarRSR team make valuable improvements from Wednesday. Ryan Dalziel, Paul Gentilozzi and Marc Goossens had adequate time behind the wheel and gains were made in time. Le Mans rookie Dalziel recorded the #81 JaguarRSR XKR GT2's fastest lap of 4:12.431 minutes, putting it 15thin class.

    • Ferrari Qualifying Report:

      Risi Competizione's Gianmaria Bruni retained the honor of setting the fastest GT2 lap time for the 24 Hours of Le Mans after the third and final qualifying session, despite some strong competition from both Corvettes and the No. 95 AF Corse Ferrari. These four cars broke under the four-minute lap barrier and followed a trend seen in the LMP1, LMP2 and GT2 class of a reduction in time of 3 seconds a lap compared to 2009.

    • Flying Lizard No. 80 Qualifies Tenth in GT2 for the 24 Heures du Mans:

      Joerg Bergmeister (Germany) qualified the No. 80 Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSR tenth in GT2 for this weekend's 24 Heures du Mans. Bergmeister set his fast time on Thursday of 4:02.685, in the second of the three qualifying sessions on the 8.468 mile circuit. (Qualifying position is determined by the fastest time set over any of the three qualifying sessions.) The team had been dogged by problems on Wednesday during practice and the first qualifying session, and had started Thursday's sessions fourteenth in class. Heavy rain on Thursday afternoon threatened to sideline the session, but luckily the storm passed quickly and the track was nearly dry by session start.

After the afternoon's free practice for the 24- hour race in Le Mans (FR), the two BMW M3 GT2 racing cars took to the track for the first qualifying session, which got underway at 22:00hrs. At the end of the twohour session, Jorg Muller (DE), Augusto Farfus (BR) and Uwe Alzen (DE) in car number 78 were 10th in the LM GT2 class with a time of 4:04.986 minutes. The no.79 BMW M3 GT2 with drivers Dirk Werner (DE), Dirk Muller (DE) and Andy Priaulx (GB) at the wheel was 0.865 seconds slower, ending the session in 11th.

It must be said that those celebrations, particularly the ontrack aspect was truly one of the most awesome motorsport experiences that I have witnessed.

After a couple of announcements yesterday, today the Mansell family announce that they will race in the 2010 Le Mans Series in a Ginetta Zytek in the LMP1 category. Greg and Leo Mansell will do the entire year with 1992 F1 Champ, Nigel Mansell joining for the 1000km of Silverstone and Le Mans.
