Phoenix will try to keep their good form going at Nogaro
For the second time, the FIA GT Championship will be heading to the circuit of Nogaro, in the South of France. This track was extensively renovated in 2006, with new state-of-the-art facilities in an impressive pit building, and hosted an excellent round of the Championship in 2007, when the penultimate round was held there.

Current SPEED GT point leader Randy Pobst
Millville, N.J. (Sept. 27, 2008) – It’s understandable why the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT teams might be a little nervous heading into Round Eight at Thunderbolt Raceway. Not only is it the penultimate round of the season, but it’s on a brand new course, rain is in the forecast and they’ll be headed straight to Road Atlanta for the finale afterwards. That’s a lot of pressure to learn the track quickly, run up front and bring the car home in one piece. It also sounds like prime conditions for a Championship shakeup.

Jet Alliance took the win after withdrawing from the last round due to safety issues
The Brno Circuit in the Czech Republic lived up to its reputation for providing nail-biting finishes today, when despite autumnal temperatures, a thrilling race took place around the 5.403 km track. Victory went to Jetalliance’s Aston Martin DBR9 in GT1, while AF Corse stepped back to the top of the podium with a win in GT2. With three rounds remaining, the points are closing up in GT1, while GT2 sees AF Corse move ever closer to the Teams titles.

The Matech Ford GT took the Championship lead after winning race 2 at Brno
After a two-race break the Ford GT returned to its winning ways in the second race at Brno; victory for the No.20 Matech GT Racing pair of Ian Khan and Thomas Mutsch mean the Ford has won five of the eight races in this year’s FIA GT3 European Championship. Second place went to the No.8 Hexis Racing Aston Martin DBRS9 of Pierre-Brice Mena and Thomas Accary – some consolation for the duo being denied a podium finish on Saturday by a stop-go penalty – while Sascha Bert and Alois Meir claimed third in the No.2 Martini Callaway Racing Corvette Z.06R GT3.

CR Scuderia took GT2 Pole
With the weather in Brno bright and cold, as well as a new surface on the 5.403 km circuit, the qualifying times tumbled in the Czech Republic today, where the best time set by Karl Wendlinger was 2.5 seconds faster than the 2007 pole time. His Jetalliance Aston Martin DBR9 set a time of 1:51.675, a full second faster than the nr 6 Phoenix Carsport Racing Corvette C6R driven by Mike Hezemans.

Brno: Qualifying Times

There was plenty of action and damaged cars in race 1
All through the free practice sessions at Brno, the Aston Martin DBRS9 looked like the car to beat; so it proved in round 7 of the FIA GT3 European Championship, when the No 17 Brixia Racing Aston Martin of Diego Alessi and Marcello Zani led home Jean-Claude Lagniez and Fred Makowiecki in the No.10 Hexis Racing Aston Martin; third place went to the Czech pair of Martin Matzke and Jiri Skula, in the No.38 MM-Racing Corvette Z.06R GT3.

The Matech Ford continues their 2008 form
The two qualifying sessions at Brno proved one thing: no matter how long the circuit, when you give 40 cars just 20 minutes to go for pole position, traffic will be a problem for everyone. At the end of the sessions, which set the grid for rounds 7 and 8 of the FIA GT3 European Championship, almost every driver said that they hadn’t managed to find a clear lap – and yet, the times were still significantly quicker than last year.

Brno , which has been on the calendar every year since 2000, will host the seventh round of the 2008 season on the beautiful, undulating circuit which is so popular with teams and drivers alike.
