Over the course of the year, twelve championship rounds were contested in ten countries with an average of 28 pilots from a total of 19 nations competing.     • Monza: Nicolas Armindo Triumphs at Gripping Finale:

      Stuttgart. The final race of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup in the Italian city of Monza could hardly have been more thrilling. On the damp high-speed circuit, Frenchman Nicolas Armindo (26) navigated his 420 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup through the notorious chicanes and brought home the team title for his Konrad Motorsport squad. Second went to Joerg Hardt (Germany) driving for Schnabl Engineering-LKM-KplusK Motorsport. The new champion Jeroen Bleekemolen (Netherlands), competing for the Jetstream Motorsport PZ Essen team, saw the chequered flag in third position.

    • Profile of a New Champion - Jeroen Bleekemolen:

      Stuttgart. Jeroen Bleekemolen is the new champion of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup. The 26-year-old Jetstream Motorsport PZ Essen team pilot secured the coveted title already in the qualifying for the penultimate round in Spa-Francorchamps.

    • Spa: Sean Edwards Take the Win in the Wet:

      Stuttgart. Sean Edwards from Great Britain triumphed at the eleventh round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup in Spa-Francorchamps. For the 21-year-old Konrad Motorsport pilot, this was his second victory of the season, with both wins on wet tracks.

    • Valencia: Third Win of the Season for Jeroen Bleekemolen:

      Stuttgart. Jeroen Bleekemolen (Netherlands) secured the maiden Porsche victory at the harbour of Valencia. At the tenth round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup on the new street circuit, the current points' leader controlled the field right from the start and left his opponents no chance. With his third win of the season, the Jetstream Motorsport PZ Essen pilot further increased his lead in the championship.

    • Knockhill: Jota Sport Enjoy Victorious Weekend:

      Jota Sport continued their fine debut season in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB with a race victory, two pole positions and two further podiums as Britain’s premier one make series visited Knockhill in Scotland.

    • Hungary: Faulkner Celebrates Clear Flag to Flag Victory:

      Stuttgart. Reigning vice-champion Damien Faulkner (Ireland) claimed his second victory of the season at the ninth round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup on the Hungaroring near Budapest. With this result, the 31-year-old SAS Lechner Racing team pilot moved up the points’ ladder into second.

    • Hockenheim: Clear Home Victory for Chris Mamerow in Hockenheim:

      Stuttgart. With a blitz start and an absolutely trouble free run, Chris Mamerow (Germany) won his home race of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup in Hockenheim. After Bahrain, this was the second win of the season for the 23-year-old, who moves up to third in the points’ standings and within striking distance of second.

    • Porsche Mobil1 Supercup Runs as Support to Formula 1 until 2011:

      Stuttgart. The successful partnership between the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup and the FIA Formula 1 World Championship will carry on: The world’s fastest one-make cup will continue to run as support race to the most important international motorsport racing series. The contract renewal between Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG and Allsport Management SA (Switzerland) will be signed on the occasion of the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim.

    • Hockenheim: Jaap van Lagen and Chris Mamerow Ahead by Narrow Margin:

      Stuttgart. The qualifying for the eighth round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup promises an exciting race. At the home round of the world’s fastest international makes cup the quickest eight drivers were separated by four-tenths of a second. Jaap van Lagen (Netherlands, Damac Kadach Racing Team) set pole position on the 4.57 kilometre Grand Prix track of the Hockenheimring in 1:42.897 minutes. This marked the first pole position for the 31-year-old, who had won in Istanbul and currently ranks seventh in the drivers’ standings with 55 points. So far, six different drivers have claimed pole position from seven qualifying sessions.

    • Zandvoort: Vital Points of Offer in Round 6:

      Stuttgart. The sixth championship round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland takes off this coming weekend in the Circuit Park Zandvoort (Netherlands). Returning with great memories to the dune track are the two front-runners of Europe’s fastest brand trophy series, René Rast and Chris Mamerow.

    • Silverstone: Edwards Dances Through Rain for Debut Win:

      Stuttgart. Sean Edwards from Great Britain has won the seventh round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup. Under extremely wet and difficult track conditions, the British 21-year-old beat his opponents in an exciting race and celebrated his first victory at the world’s fastest one-make series.

    • Silverstone: Hancock Charges to Seventh in Supercup Deluge:

      Jota Sport’s second-ever appearance in the Grand Prix-supporting Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup saw 28-year old Sam Hancock charge from 23rd on the grid to take seventh in a torrential downpour at a sodden Silverstone.

    • Magny-Cours: Tight Win for Bleekemolen:

      Stuttgart. Great success for the Netherlands at the sixth round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup on the Circuit de Nevers. At the 14-lap race on the French Grand Prix track, first and second went to two Dutchman, Jeroen Bleekemolen and Jaap van Lagen, ahead of Stefan Rosina from Slovakia. For Bleekemolen, this marks his second win in France within one week. Last Sunday, the 25-year-old claimed class victory at the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours at the wheel of the Porsche RS Spyder sports prototype.

    • Magny-Cours: Phil Quaife 11th in Supercup Return:

      Phil Quaife was back out on track in the Porsche Supercup this weekend, supporting the FIA Formula One World Championship, at the fast but technical circuit of Magny Cours in France.

    • Magny Cours: Solid Debut for Hancock:

      Sam Hancock took 16th place on his Porsche Supercup debut at Magny-Cours at the weekend, stepping up from the Carrera Cup Great Britain to the prestigious grand-prix support series.

    • Montreal: Rivera, Steiner and Faieta Stand Atop Podium:

      MONTREAL June 8 -- Tony Rivera, Houston, Texas, continued his winning streak in the IMSA Challenge by Michelin Gold Cup passing Dino Steiner, Wehingen, Germany, on the first lap of round six to take his first overall victory in 2008 at the Canadian Grand Prix.

    • Paul Stokell Returns to the Carrera Cup:

      Former Australian Driver’s Champion and two-time Nations Cup Champion Paul Stokell has rejoined Carrera Cup Australia and will make his season debut at Sandown International Raceway this weekend.

      Porsche Cars Australia is well placed to ensure the continued smooth operation of Carrera Cup racing in Australia in 2009 and beyond following the decision by Iain Sherrin to cease ownership of the Category Management Agreement (CMA) at the end of the 2008 season.

    • Thruxton: Duncan Tappy Close To Porsche Carrera Cup Podium:

      Duncan Tappy came within four laps of a podium finish when he made his appearance in the Porsche Carrera Cup at Thruxton this weekend as a reward for making it as a McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award finalist. Duncan took part in a test at the Hampshire circuit six weeks ago, the track where he works as a race instructor.

    • Thruxton: Double Victory In Dream Weekend For Jota Sport:

      In only their fourth ever Porsche Carrera Cup GB meeting, Jota Sport secured a memorable double-victory at Thruxton to truly announce their arrival as championship contenders in the UK’s leading one make series.

    • Turkey: Van Lagen Celebrates First Win of Season:

      Stuttgart. Jaap van Lagen secured his first win of the season at the fourth round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup in Istanbul (Turkey). The 31-year-old Dutchman had taken up the race from second on the grid and, after an excellent start, outsprinted his pole-setting Damac Kadach Racing team mate Chris Mamerow (Germany) to the first corner. Van Lagen, who contests his first full season in the world’s fastest international one make series, held onto his lead to take the flag in first after 14 laps.

    • Turkey: Team Mates Mamerow and van Lagen Share Front Row:

      Stuttgart. Chris Mamerow (Germany) and Jaap van Lagen (Netherlands) dominated the qualifying session for the fourth round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup. The two Damac Kadach Racing team mates secured the front row of the grid on the 5.4 kilometre Grand Prix circuit of Istanbul (Turkey). Initially, the 31-year old Dutchman turned the quickest lap in 1:57.354 minutes to top the time sheets where he remained for approximately 20 minutes. His team mate Chris Mamerow then went one better. The 23-year-old student lapped the circuit in 1:57.094 minutes and secured his first pole position in the world’s fastest international one-make series.

      Given Aaron Caratti’s performance in the third round of Carrera Cup Australia, he would be the favourite no matter where Round Four of the championship was being held.

      Jota Sport's Sam Hancock scored fourth and fifth places respectively in rounds five and six of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Donington Park.

    • Catalunya: Seyffarth Takes Flag-to-Flag Win:

      Stuttgart. Jan Seyffarth (Germany) won the third round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup at the Spanish Grand Prix. Driving for Konrad Motorsport, the 21-year-old former UPS-Porsche junior took up the 14-lap race from pole position and after a faultless race saw the chequered flag first after 26:16.910 minutes. For Seyffarth, this success on the 4.63 kilometre Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona (Spain) marks the first in a Porsche brand trophy.

    • Australian Sportscar Racing - Spiraling Out of Control:

      GT Racing in Australia is at crisis point. Over the last week the Australian GT Championship has gone into a tail spin which threatens its existence and the integrity of GT racing in Australia.

      The Australian GT Championship are confident of their continual existence and claim to have “some very exciting prospects for 2009”.

      But the rest of the tale does not look so rosy.

    • Rockingham: Successful Weekend for Jota:

    • Aaron Caratti's Perfect Weekend:

      West Australian Aaron Caratti (Parklands on Bertram) has produced the perfect race weekend on his way to claiming his first ever Carrera Cup round win.

      Round Three of Carrera Cup Australia, held at Goulburn’s Wakefield Park this weekend, belonged to the affable Sandgroper, who dominated the round from Friday’s practice session to the final race today.

    • Jono Lester Back On The Horse At Wakefield Park:

      Jono Lester would be the first to admit that the past month hasn’t brought much success, be it on track or nursing a broken leg on the sidelines. He had ‘fallen off the horse’ as it were, and with a confidence boost very much needed, it was time to climb back onto the saddle.

    • Bahrain: Chris Mamerow Wins Second Race on the Persian Gulf:

      Stuttgart. At the second championship round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup,
      Chris Mamerow from Germany claimed his first win of the season. The
      23-year-old new-comer to the world’s fastest international one-make cup
      took up the race from third on the grid. In lap three he grabbed the front
      position from the leading Jeroen Bleekemolen (Netherlands) and René Rast
      (Germany), and never let it go for the remainder of the 12-lap sprint.
      Following the first two championship races, Mamerow ranks second in the
      drivers’ standings.

    • Bahrain: Bad Luck for Rast as Faulkner Takes the Win:

      Stuttgart. Damien Faulkner won the first round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup on the Bahrain International Circuit. The 30-year-old reigning vice champion repeated his success from last year and crossed the finish line first at the season-opening round. Faulkner, who took up the race from second on the grid, won in a time of 25:22.952 minutes, eight seconds ahead of his closest rival.

    • Bahrain: The Rookie Upstages the Field in Qualifying:

      Stuttgart. To open the season, René Rast (Germany) secured pole position for the first round of this year’s Porsche Mobil1 Supercup in Bahrain. At the second qualifying session, which determines the grid line up for the second round of the series on Sunday, the 20-year-old again set the quickest time. At his debut in the world’s fastest international one-make cup, the new-comer takes up both championship rounds from the front of the 26-strong field.

    • Caratti Secures Succesive Pole Positions:

      Aaron Caratti’s (Parklands on Bertram) sensational run of form continues after the West Australian driver claimed pole position for the first race of Carrera Cup Australia’s third round at Wakefield Park, Goulburn, this afternoon.

      Western Australia’s Aaron Caratti (Parklands on Bertram) has won his first ever Carrera Cup race after taking out Race One at the FORMULA 1™ ING Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this afternoon.

    • IMSA Challenge by Michelin Porsche Race Preview:

      The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA), and Michelin have taken the successful IMSA Challenge by Michelin and expanded it again for 2008. Beginning with the American Le Mans Series' Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring weekend , the IMSA Challenge (renamed from the IMSA GT3 Challenge) will run 14 races at seven venues and will expand into two classes to attract even more participation.

    • Porsche Makes Cups 2008: 25,000 Porsche horsepower on the Hockenheimring:

      Stuttgart. The winter break is over for the teams of the Porsche Mobil1
      Supercup and the Carrera Cup Deutschland. On 5th and 6th March, more than
      40 pilots and 29 teams tested their new racing sports cars for the first
      time on the Hockenheimring in preparation for the upcoming season. The
      Porsche 911 GT3 Cup now delivers 420 horsepower instead of 400hp. The
      aerodymanics of the successful makes cup racer also underwent
      modifications.
