Steve Saleen has alluded to the possibility that he could re-enter the ALMS Championship.
Saleen has established another arm of his automotive empire – SMS Limited. This arm will assist the rest of the organisation in producing and selling the high-end performance cars.
In the announcement, Saleen said “Sportscar racing enthusiasts will be excited about the upcoming announcement of our return to racing in the American LeMans Series. You will hear more about that very soon.”
What this exactly means is unclear. We do not know whether he will enter the Saleen S7 (unlikely) in GT1 or engineer another car to ALMS specifications in the GT2 class. Another possibility is that he could enter a car in new for 2010 class.
Contenders for the prize could be the Mustang, S7 or the concept ‘Raptor’ which is to be run on E85 fuels.

We believe Saleen wants to get back into top line sportscar racing and the Raptor would be the ideal instrument. It’s new, purpose built (well, almost) and adheres to the ALMS’ green racing standards. Naturally we will bring you more information as it comes.
