Porsche are legends of the sportscar and GT racing world. They dominated through the Group C era and after the demise of that era, the German manufacturer could not settle for second.
After seeing how McLaren used the rules to create the giant killing ‘F1’ Porsche wanted to do the same. They did not want to let the GT racing that was the mid to late 1990s go by without a legendary Porsche.
So they created the 911 GT1 – a great car in its own right. This four and a half minutes of YouTube video will take you through the history of the GT car from early inception to some of its highlights on the track.
