RUMOUR: Oz GT – Is This the End of the Road???

2007 saw a lot of highs for the GT Series but could 2008 see the ultimate low???

It seems things are not so rosy at the Australian GT HQ at the current time.

The competitors of the Australian GT Championship have been advised that the next round at Oran Park as been cancelled…due to lack of interest. Apparently only six cars were entered for the round at Oran Park which would have been the least in the series’ history.

The rumour does not end there. It seems some of the competitors think this is it for the series. The end. No more. While we try to get comment from the Series management, we will assume that it is not the end but just a bump in the road.

The Series had planned to go to full FIA GT3 rules for 2009 and as reported by us earlier, they should soon have nine of those cars and we are sure that other measures would have been put in place to ensure full grids in 2009 if needed.

With two new national Championships being established in Australia in 2008, this may have taken its toll on the series.

We will keep you updated on any developments on this story as it happens.
