RUMOUR: Le Mans Series - The Zytek Plans

A Radio Le Mans interview with Zytek's John Manchester turned up some interesting plans for the future.

During the Monza race for the Le Mans Series, Manchester answered some listeners questions and some of the answers were very interesting.

Zytek does have some plans to power the Gineta. Although they cannot confirm anything at the moment, it does appear that the Gineta could race with a Zytek powerplant. Currently however, there are no plans to put the engine in a road car yet.

Zytek will have a new chassis for 2009. With the 07S having no development work this year, a new car should make them competitive with the Porsche RS Spyder. Zytek are also investigating a coupe for the possibility of entry in later years.

There are also plans that the manufacturer could enter the ALMS as early as late this year or early next year with 'exciting plans'.

And if you ever wondered how much the racing contributes to Zytek's workload - the correct answer is apparently 30%.
