It has been a long time since we have seen a Le Mans Prototype in a crash this big. But this crash also displays the strength of the cars.
Stéphane Ortelli's Oreca had a mechanical failure on the front straight at Monza. The car snapped sideways, hit the wall, flipped several times before hitting another wall and coming to rest.
Amazingly, Ortelli only suffered a broken ankle.
