It has been reported that French manufacturer, Citroen could enter the DTM series in 2010.
As reported in Autosport.com and Touringcartimes.com, Citroen are contemplating a move to the DTM series.
The World Rally Championship (WRC) are implementing new rules for 2010 which would mean Citroen would have to build a new car. They are currently unsatisfied with the promotion in the WRC and are looking elsewhere.
The DTM are also investigating new rules for the 2010 season. In the opinion of Citroen, the DTM has better media coverage and could be an ideal place to market their C5.
Under the agreement with Mercedes and Audi, the DTM rule makers need a new manufacturer to change the rules and are in discussion with Citroen and other manufacturers including BMW, Peugeot and Toyota along with Mercedes Benz and Audi.
The FMSC View
It would be good to have a new manufacturer in the DTM and the C5 would be a great car to see. But there are things that can stand in the way of the move, including Sebestian Loeb - their star driver who they would be reluctant to let go.
But as always, we will keep you informed!
