Team Modena return to Snetterton in Norfolk for this weekend's (June 7th and 8th) rounds of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship - scene of their debut in the series last year and where the Gallardo announced itself on the British scene by setting a new lap record. Now up to full strength with a pair of Lamborghini Gallardos, the team will be aiming to use their year's experience to go one better than the second place they recorded at Rockingham in the previous meeting.
It is a busy time for Team Modnea, with the crew at Le Mans yesterday for the test day, and returning to the French circuit straight after Snetterton for the race.
"It's good to go back to Snetterton having set the lap record there last year," said Team Principal Graham Schultz. "There is a lot going on for the team right now, but we are bringing equipment back from Le Mans for this race meeting. We aim to have a good weekend"
Adam Jones and Rob Wilson took the GT3-specification car to fourth on the Gallardo's British GT debut, and this year Adam will once more be in the car, this time sharing with Piers Johnson. The duo took second place in the first race at a very wet Rockingham at the end of last month, and led much of the second race in tricky conditions.
"It will be good to go to Snetterton knowing the car has gone quick there before," said Piers. "It is a circuit I know well and I have done a lot of long-distance races there, it is an easy circuit to learn but sometimes a tricky one to be really quick at. It would be nice to have some good weather for once at a GT race this year!"
Ben de Zille Butler and Guy Harrington joined the team at Knockhill in April, and now see Team Modena running a full two car assault on the British GT Championship.
"I'm looking forward to the weekend, but I look forward to every race!" said Ben. "I am hoping our luck will change, we took some gambles at Rockingham that didn't come off but could have paid off for us. I first drove the Gallardo at Snetterton last year and it was quick straight away, so I think we will be quick. Guy and I both like the circuit, and we have been on the podium there before, so it could be a good weekend for us."
The weekend features a one-hour race on each day, each race featuring a compulsory driver change.
