Former boss of Toyota Team Europe, the organisation behind the legendary Toyota GT1 Le Mans cars, Ove Andersson has died in a rally accident in South Africa.
Originally from Sweden, Andersson was a successful rally driver, having won on the infamous Monte Carlo rally.
Perhaps what he will be most remembered for is Toyota Team Europe (now Toyota Motorsport GmbH), which he established and led teams to the World Rally Championship (including several titles), sportscars and most recently, Formula 1.
Although Toyota's ambitions at Le Mans were never fully realised, they did create amazing looking cars, that, no doubt still hang on walls as 'ultimate cars'.
Andersson was competing in a historic rally in South Africa when he had an accident with another vehicle.
Andersson was 70 and Feedmesportscars extends its condolences to Andersson's family and friends.
