- At the start: The three Peugeots are leading with a best time for Lamy with 3’22.449’, then the three Audis. Allan McNish overtakes the Peugeot #7 immediately after the start in the Dunlop curve but Minassian comes back to third position again at the entrance of the Playstation chicane.
- The #76 Imsa Performance Matmut, Porsche 911 GT3 RSR , the class leading LMGT2 car has been penalised and sent to the back of the grid.
Apparently one of the team mechanics infringed the regulations. This will be a serious blow to the team after all the work they put in to gain pole position in their class. It seems that one of the team mechanics refueled the car on the display grid. This is not permitted.
- As the cars streamed off on the opening lap of the race the #97 BMS Scuderia Italia Spa, Ferrari F430 GT driven Malucelli joined the race from the pit lane. The team had missed the start while sorting out a problem with the front suspension on the car. They are now in the race and looking fine. #31 Team Essex, Porsche RS Spyder had an engine change just before grid formation.
- The #25 RML, Lola Mg B05-40 Erdos off and damaged at the Playstation chicane, After coming into contact under braking with #12 Charouz Racing System Lola Judd driven by Pickett. Erdos is bringing the car back to the pits.
- Leading Peugeot #8 Team Peugeot Total, Peugeot 908 HDI FAP pits routinely after nine laps.. as has the #1 Audi Sport North America, Audi R10. In the meantime, #53 Vitaphone Racing Team, Aston Martin DBR9 driven by Hardman spins at Ford Chicane but rejoins.
- #83 Risi Competizione, Ferrari F 430 GT driven by Krohn spins and crashes at Corvette Curve, sustaining damage to the rear end and it has not made it back to the pits yet.
