The relaunched Australian GT Championship will get underway at Eastern Creek with a healthy field of cars
Charismatic competitor Peter Hackett is a welcome ‘returnee’ to the re-launched 2008 Australian GT Championship.
Not only will Hackett provide additional driver talent to the grid for Round 4 of the Championship at Eastern Creek (July 12-13) but he will do so in style at the wheel of the second Aston Martin DBRS9 to compete in Australia.
No stranger to GT Racing, Hackett came second in the 2005 Championship chase for Team Lamborghini. His racing pedigree is among the most impressive in the country having been 2001 Australian Formula 3 Champion and the 2005 Australian F4000 Champion.
Other highlights of his career to date include a 7th place at the Macau F3 Grand Prix in 2001 and testing for the Australian A1 GP team in France in 2005. A Bachelor of Sport Science, Hackett spends his non racing time as a driving instructor and television commentator for Channel 9’s “Test Drive” and the SBS “Speedweek” program.
Hackett will be competing in the JMC Motorsport owned Aston Martin DBRS9 at Eastern reek after a recent successful test of the car at Victoria’s Phillip Island circuit.
