Spa 24h: Phoenix Carsport Racing are Prepared


The driver lineups for Phoenix have been confirmed

Ø Uwe Alzen (D) completes the second GMAC-Corvette and will be paired with Alex Margaritis (GR), Jos Menten (NL) and Robert Schlünssen (DK)

Ø Last years winning team Marcel Fässler (CH), Jean Denis Deletraz (CH), Mike Hezemans (NL) and Fabrizio Gollin (I) on the GMAC-Corvette

For the FIA GT season´s high light the 24 Hours Spa (27th July – 03rd August), the drivers line up on the two Corvettes of Phoenix Carsport Racing are fixed.


After the tests at the 08th July on the Belgian "Roller coaster " the Spa circuit there will be a good combination of experience and young talents on the second GMAC-Corvette.

Alex Margaritis, 23 years old, born in Bonn, Greek, is young, but in the three years at Mercedes in the DTM he got much experience and at the test at Spa he was immediately quick on the Phoenix Corvette. Robert Schlünssen, 24 years old, born in Germany, and a permanent starter in the Danish Touring Car Championship, has had a fabulous debut in the GT car at the Spa test and convinced the team with his performance. The Danish Automobile Sports Federation supports Robert Schlünssen for the 24 hour race at Spa.

Jos Menten, 27 years from the Netherlands, is very experience in GT sports. He take parts at a lot of GT races in the BELCAR and started some weeks ago in the Le Mans 24 Hours. Jos Menten will start 2008 for the fifth time at the 24 Hours Spa.

Uwe Alzen, 41 years, Betzdorf, Germany. Well know in the motor-sports world. A unique thoroughbred racing driver who celebrated many successes on different racing cars in DTM, GT and especially on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. His relationship to Phoenix? The victory at the 24 Hour race Nürburgring 2000 and the third place in the Speedcar Championship 2008.

As already reported the winning team from the previous year with Marcel Fässler, Jean Denis Deletraz, Mike Hezemans and Fabrizio Gollin will start unchanged on the GMAC-Corvette in the 24 Hours Spa. Dirk Theimann
