The ALMS field is the healthiest it has been, well ever but there are rumours of even more cars to the field.
According to a variety of Internet rumours, we could be seeing as many as 17 Prototype cars line up at Road America.
Currently we have 14. Five in P1 (2x Audi, 2x Intersport, 1x Autocon) and we have nine in P2 (4x Acura, 4x Porsche, 1x B-K Mazda).
So where could these other three come from?
There are three cars that are could be run. The Cytosport Lola in P1, the Eco Radical in P1 and the Van Der Steur Radical in P2.
But we find this all a little far fetched. The first one has entered many races but only ran at Le Mans, the second has confirmed the end of the year and the third, has seemingly lost interest in running again in 2008.
But there could be more. Lola and Zytek have said that they have sold cars and there is one team that didn't race the last two events. That team is Corsa. They have also alluded that they might want to race a Prototype car in the future - could the future be here?
Then there is Forsythe - they have told Autosport that they expect to run ALMS in 2009 - could that in fact be 2008?
Then there is Walker - again rumours say 2009 but could it be sooner.
And Chamberlain - it has been reported that they will run the Mansell brothers (sons of 1992 F1 Champ, Nigel) - they have tested, could their sportscar debut be bought forward?

Well we struggle to see any of this happening this quickly...so we expect 14 Prototyes, but if we get 17, we can be wrong...
