Spa 24h: Lammers and Enge Join IPB Spartak Reiter Engineering for Spa

The IPB Spartak Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT has an exciting driver lineup for Spa

The regular drivers of the IPB Spartak Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT Peter Kox and Roman Rusinov will be joined by Jan Lammers and Tomas Enge for the highlight of the 2008FIA GT Championship, the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

Former Formula 1 driver Jan Lammers had the opportunity to test the GT1 Lamborghini two weeks ago at Le Castellet. He will race at the 24hrs of Spa for the first time. “I have raced at so many different races and race series, but I have never driven in Spa for the 24 hours”, confessed the Dutch driver.

The contract with Tomas Enge was signed today, so that Enge will drive the Murciélago for the first time at the free practice next week in Belgium.

Lammers competed regularly in the FIA GT Championship in its first two seasons, 1997 and 1998. He was Mike Hezemans' team-mate in the Lotus Elise GT1 in 1997, and then did a number of rounds in 1998 with the Bitter GT1 and then a Roock Racing Porsche.

As for Enge, he has competed on a number of occasions, claiming three pole positions. Last year he raced for Scuderia Ecosse and in the debut of the RB Immo Racing Team. His first podium was in 2001, when he claimed third in the Coca Cola Racing Team Porsche that he shared, as a one-off, with his then-F3000 team mate Justin Wilson.

The Lamborghini missed the Oschersleben round due to the injuries suffered by Peter Kox at the Norisring.
