Pole Sitting Larbre Crashes in Warm Up - Out of the Race!

The warm-up session on race morning is usually a fairly quiet affair - a last chance for teams and drivers to check their race set-up, and for the mechanics to carry out a 'spanner check'.

But drama struck the warm-up for the Total 24 Hours of Spa when the nr 7 Larbre Competition Saleen S7R, which had qualified on pole position, crashed at Raidillion. The driver, Steve Zacchia, spun across the track, slamming into the tyre wall. He was taken to the medical centre for a check-up. The bad news for the team was that the damage to the car was so severe that they had no choice other than to withdraw from the race; this handed the first place on the grid to the nr 6 Phoenix Carsport Corvette Z.06.
