The Mobil 1 Presents Grand Prix of Mosport got off to an exciting pre-race start Tuesday on downtown Toronto's famed Yonge-Dundas Square as Corvette Racing and its Canadian hero Ron Fellows entertained a large mid-day crowd for Mosport's 2008 Racefest activities. Joining Fellows and the rest of the Racefest activities was fellow acclaimed Canadian driver Tony Burgess, who will be driving for Autocon Motorsports this weekend.
Corvette Racing entertained the crowd for well over an hour, demonstrating pit stops that have made them the envy of the American Le Mans Series paddock. Both Fellows and Burgess addressed the crowd and proclaimed why Mosport was the most exciting track on the premier sports car series' circuit.
"It's downright scary sometimes," proclaimed Fellows, who acknowledged that the track is the fastest in the Series.
The Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 24 from Mosport International Raceway just outside of Toronto. It is the only Series' race held outside the United States. The eighth round of the 2008 American Le Mans Series will be aired live on SPEED. XM Satellite Radio will air the race live on XM Channel 166. Live radio coverage also will be available from American Le Mans Radio at americanlemans.com, which also will feature IMSA's Live Timing & Scoring.
