Magny Cours: A Dominant Win for Trottet Racing

From pole to victory for the Fassler and Moser

Trottet Racing brilliantly took its third victory of the season in the Pro-Am race of the Magny-Cours GT Open, when Marcel Fässler and Henri Moser drove an impeccable flag-to-flag race ahead of the pack. Championship leaders Andrea Montermini and Michele Maceratesi finished second in their Playteam Ferrari after charging back successfully from a spin in lap one. Third position was for Damien Pasini and Alessandro Bonetti finished third in their Advanced Engineering Ferrari, after a strong battle with various cars.

In GTS, there was no rival for the fast Twentwytwo Corvette of Andrea Pallizzato and Marco Cioci, who reinforced their leadership in the standings after dominating the race. The two Villois Aston Martins of Wiser-Piccolo and Romanini-Azzoli took the other two spots in the podium.

THE RACE

Poleman Fässler is fastest at the start ahead of Montermini , Belicchi, Couceiro, Frassineti and Livio, but in the third corner there is a contact between Montermini and Frassineti; the first spins and the second has to retire with a broken wheel. Chacon and Bonetti benefit of the confusion to take third and fourth, while shortly after also Cressoni and Caffi will incur in spins.

Montermini charges back and passes Bonetti in lap 9 and Chacon in lap 10. The Spaniard is animating this first part of the race, but cannot resist to the attacks of Bonetti first, and of Couceiro, Livio and Frezza later on, before making a spin, and getting tangled in the battle between Casè and Cressoni further down. In GTS, the Corvette leads ahead of the Aston of Wiser who had passed the Lambo of Ceccato in the early stages.

After the driver change Moser leads, 25" ahead of Maceratesi, followed by Zonca, Pasini, Gião, de Castro, Bontempelli, Lietz and Monfardini, while Garofano has to retire (broken radiator), Peyroles spins after a contact in lap 20 with Rugolo (retired), Aguas spins twice, and both De Castro and Geri retire in lap 29, for technical problems. The last laps are uneventful for the two leading cars, while Zonca slids gradually to sixth, having to let pass Pasini, who takes third, Gião, and Lietz.

No problems for the Corvette in GTS, who wins ahead of the two Astons.
