LM24: After 9 Hours

The situation after 9 hours

  • The second Porsche of Team IMSA Performance Matmut came to a stop trackside just before Mulsanne corner. The LM GT2 car was lying over 40th overall.
  • With only one lap between his #8 Peugeot and the leading #9 Marc Gené's sister car, Sébastien Bourdais had a collision at Mulsanne with the #76 Porsche driven by Patrick Pilet.
This incident will cost both drivers valuable time : the LM GT2 driver lost precious seconds getting out of the gravel trap, while Sébastien Bourdais will have to come back to his pits for a refuel and nose change. He hands the car over to Franck Montagny, who then rejoins the track one lap behind Tom Kristensen's #1 Audi and 37 seconds ahead of the #17 Pescarolo Peugeot 908 driven by JC Boullion.

  • The #23 Ginetta Zytek, driven by Nick Leventis was flagged in to incur a stop & go penalty for speeding in the pit lane, 71 km/h instead of the mandatory 60 km/h. Having taken this penalty, the car is now in 27th overall.
  • German driver Andre Lotterer, who is a rookie at the Le Mans 24 Hours, has just incurred a penalty for speeding in the pit lane (69 km/h instead of the mandatory 60 km/h)
The car, which is 6th overall and 5 laps behind the leading car had to come in at 23:45 for a stop & go
  • Almost 9 hours into the race, the #33 car, driven by Frenchman Xavier Pompidou has been wheeled into its garage for a repair to the rear extractor. The blue Lola, which had kept a very regular pace until now lies 17th overall, and third in the LM P2 category, behind the two Porsche RS Spyders.
