WTCC were racing at Macau this weekend

The brief from Macau and news from the SCCA Speed GT Championship makes up today's news.

  • The WTCC world has seen a couple of major announcements over the last few days. Chevrolet's Nicola Larnini has announced his retirement and in somewhat of a surprise, Yvan Muller (of Seat) has announced that he will join the team. Muller of course is the reigning Champ of the Series.

  • The WTCC were racing in Macau this weekend. In race 1, Huff won from Tarquini and Gene, while in race 2, Farfus won from Jorg Muller and Yvan Muller. Tarquini was the Champion of the 2009 Series. It was a wild weekend in Macau with James Thompson being ruled out after a crash, Gabriele Tarquini and Yvan Muller crashed heavily but were able to race and Franz Engstler broke his collar bone in race 2

  • Staying in Macau, the Macau GT Cup was run again. Keita Sawa won in a Lamborghini GT3 from Darryl O'Young in his Porsche Cup S and Danny Watts in a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup.

  • The Speed World Challenge have announced two extra rounds of their title. The new dates are Mosport in May and Virginia in September. The current calendar is as follows:
    March 26 - 28 Streets of St. Petersburg
    April 16 - 18 Streets of Long Beach
    May 21 - 23 Mosport International Raceway*
    July 2 - 4 Watkins Glen International
    July 17 - 18 Streets of Toronto
    Aug. 6 - 8 Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
    Sept. 10 - 12 VIRginia International Raceway*
