Extreme Speed Motorsports Finalises 2010 Driver Lineup

Extreme Speed Motorsports has reveled its lineup for its first season of racing. The team, owned by LMP1 Champ Scott Sharp will campaign two Ferrari F430s in the full ALMS schedule in 2010.

It was announced that Scott Sharp will join Johannes van Overbeek in the lead car. The second car will be piloted by Ed Brown and Guy Cosmo.

"I'm very excited about joining ESM and Patron in the ALMS. Scott has been working tirelessly to ensure that we have all the tools in place to be successful," commented van Overbeek. "Having been a part of a successful start-up team in the past, I know it won't be easy but I look forward to contributing to ESM's long-term success and working hard to ensure that Patron's investment in the team and the Series is maximized."

Sharp, we all know - coming from Highcroft in 2009 to set up his own team. His co-driver, van Overbeek raced for Flying Lizard Motorsport and the move represents a change in marque.

Ed Brown is the money behind the team, being CEO of Patron and proved to be a handy driver in the GTC class. Guy Cosmo also raced in GTC in 2009 but also had a successful career in the GT and Prototype fields beforehand in ALMS.

"Joining Scott Sharp's Extreme Speed Motorsports for the 2010 American Le Mans Series GT2 championship is a great opportunity,” said Cosmo. “This program is exactly what I've wanted to be part of for several years now. It's the ultimate trifecta; Patrón-sponsored, Ferrari-driven, and in the American Le Mans Series. What more could a driver ask for? I'm really looking forward to contributing to the team and making this program a success.”

This announcement also puts to rest rumours about Risi's Pierre Kaffer who was said to be joining the team. This is hopefully a further indication that Risi will return for the full ALMS season in 2010.
