Its True - Oreca to Race a Peugeot in 2010

The Peugeot and Oreca squads will be tightly aligned in 2010

After months of speculation, it has been confirmed by Peugeot and Oreca that the two French companies will work together in 2010.

Initially, Oreca will campaign one Peugeot 908 in the Le Mans 24 Hours AND the Le Mans Series. One driver - Nicolas Lapierre - has been confirmed for 2010.

"ORECA and its director Hugues De Chaunac have a proven winning record in several motor sport disciplines over the years," says Peugeot Sport Director Olivier Quesnel.

"We have consequently chosen this team which we believe is the best qualified to defend Peugeot's colours. Team ORECA MATMUT will run a 908 HDi FAP in the 2010 Le Mans Series, as well as in the 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours where its support will be invaluable.

"I am convinced that our collaboration will be a fruitful one, and that there is every chance it can be extended in the future with the supply of Peugeot engines in 2011."

It is anticipated that the relationship will extend into 2011 as well. A Peugeot engine will power the new-for-2011 Oreca 2, firmly establishing themselves as the Peugeot private team.

Peugeot had considered a number of teams for this venture. de Ferran was one of those teams, and on the same day as this announcement was made they were reported to have closed their racing factory.
