
WTCC, PK Carsport, Porsche and their RS Spyder, Racing Box and Spyker makes up today's news in brief
- Lada's Jaap van Lagen broke his collarbone during a work out on his mountain bike last Saturday. The Dutch driver rode a few kilometres with the broken collar bone before he could find medical assistance. He underwent successful surgery that afternoon, his collarbone being fixed with a large metal plate. It is expected that he will be back for the start of 2010.
- The Morocco WTCC race won accolades - specifically, the "WTCC Special Award" to reward the efforts made by the companies involved in developing and promoting the FIA World Touring Car Championship.
PK Carsport also won the 'Team of the year' award from the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium. "I think it's great for our boys! I can not imagine a better team to team work with. Mike and I often say that this is the best team..one that other people also find great," said driver, Anthony Kumpen.
- Porshce confirmed what was suspected - that Cytosport will be the only team to run RS Spyders in 2010 and the team will not be running in Europe.
- Racing Box will race on Pirelli rubber in 2010. The team recently competed in the 6 Hours of Vallelunga on Pirellis. It is expected that they will continue with their Lola Judd LMP2 cars in 2010.
- Spyker Cars has renewed its interest in taking over the ailing Saab company from GM. The Dutch company which campaigns GT2 cars in the Le Mans Series, submitted a revised offer to GM which eliminated 11 issues that caused the failure of the last bid. GM had announced that they would wind up the company before the latest offer from Spyker. Spyker are after the 1100 dealers, state-of-the-art production facilities, a truly dedicated work force and solid engineering, sourcing and research & development capabilities that they would own if they took over Saab
