News in Brief for 13 January

Another massive day of announcements with good news from Risi, Aston Marin Young Driver team, Luc Alphand and RSR.

  • Risi Comeptizione has confirmed that they are developing their car with a view of being ultra-competitive in the ultra-cometitive GT2 class of the ALMS in 2010. While not specifically confirming their plans for 2010, they certainly did send out good vibes in this story
  • It seems that Luc Alphand Aventures will continue with their Corvette C6.R for the 2010 season. Rumours had the team racing a BMW but with the new GT1 rules and an auto entry to Le Mans, they will continue down the GT1 route. No plans beyond Le Mans were confirmed but the Le Mans Series seems a likely choice.

  • The Young Driver AMR team have confirmed a few of their drivers. The team which will be running in the GT1 World Championship will have Darren Turner and Stefan Mücke in one car and possibly Christoffer Nygaard and Tomas Enge in the second car.
  • The RSR Jaguar squad has reaffirmed its intent to race in the full ALMS season in 2010 just before they make an appearance at the Autosport International. Mike O'Driscoll, Managing Director of Jaguar Cars said: "Our designers and engineers have taken the best of our standard road-going XKR and with Paul Gentilozzi's motorsport expertise created a first-class competition car. Paul and his RSR team are confident that they can compete against some serious competition in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).

"Motorsport has always been important to the Jaguar brand. Our domination of Le Mans in the 1950s was a foundation on which the company was developed. As we look to the future with our new range of high performance 'R' branded cars, we aim to make the Jaguar brand synonymous with motorsports once again."

It is also thought that Jaguar USA does have more-than-nothing to do with this ALMS effort for 2010.
