Confirmed entries into the Le Mans Series, British GT and Australian GT make today's news.
The Australian GT Championship will boast two additional Lotuses in the Challenge Class with Tim and David Mackie entering Elises as pictured above. A Lotus like this has won outright in the Championship with Peter Lucas beating out more fancied rivals at Eastern Creek in 2008 before the car was destroyed in a crash. The Mackies have competed in various state series in Australia with Tim winning the NSW Production Sports Car championship last year and wan name CAMS NSW Competitor of the year.
Good news for the British GT Championship - in fact a so much good news that the Series must think it is Christmas. First off, Chad Racing will enter a Ferrari GT3 in the legendary STP colours (below). Daniel Brown and Chris Hyman will race for the team. Additionally Hugh Chamberlain will return to racing by running an Aston Martin DBRS9 for Tom Black and Stuart Hall. That's three cars in a week. Not bad.
This possibly should have been first, but I really like those Lotuses. AF Corse have committed two cars, maybe three to the Le Mans Series in 2010. While they will run other races, commitment to the FIA GT2 Championship is unclear. In any case, they will run their Ferrari 430s with Jamie Melo and Gimmi Bruni in one car; Luis Perez-Companc and Matias Russo in a second; with (fomrer F1 winner) Jean Alesi and Toni Vilander in the third if it goes ahead.
