Carrera Cup (Australia)

North Queensland motorsport fans will enjoy live demonstrations from a 997-based Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car during the Lexmark Indy 300 Roadshow to be held outside the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre this Saturday July 15 from 12 noon to 5pm.

Young Queensland driver Klark Quinn from Team VIP Petfoods will showcase this year’s Porsche which is the exclusive car in the Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup.

The free community Roadshow in Townsville will double as the Official Launch for the Lexmark Indy 300 this year to be held on the Gold Coast from October 19 to 22.

The Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup will be well represented and highly visible with Klark Quinn and the 997 Porsche, plus the category’s new transporter on display – the highly impressive MAN TG-A 26.530 truck.

In addition to Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup’s involvement, the Roadshow will include demonstrations from a Champ Car, V8 Supercars, V8 Ute and Aussie Racing Cars plus driver autograph sessions, V8 Supercar merchandise trucks, safety cars and simulator, stage parades by Bartercard Miss Indy contestants, a motor bike stunt show, plus Lexmark Indy 300, Gold Coast Tourism, motor racing and hot rod displays.

“I can’t wait to get up to Townsville to give North Queensland motorsport fans a taste of the Lexmark Indy 300 as well as the Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup,” said Quinn.

“There is a huge supporter base in Townsville and I’m sure they will get a thrill out of seeing and hearing these amazing Porsche racing thoroughbreds.”

Entering its fourth season in Australia, the Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup cars are all meticulously developed by Porsche’s racing arm in Germany. With a top speed in excess of 300kph, the lightweight, high performance vehicles have a 400 horsepower, 3.6-litre six cylinder Boxer engine which revs to 8200 RPM, producing a sound that is distinctly Porsche.

Quinn will perform demonstrations throughout the afternoon from 12 noon and 5pm and will be on display for fans to have a close-up look at these magnificent racing machines. Queensland Premier Peter Beattie, Minister for Sport Tom Barton and Townsville’s own Bartercard Miss Indy Jana Peterson will open the Roadshow at 12 noon.
