Vitaphone Racing Maserati MC12 dominated round nine of the FIA GT race at Adria, Italy. Racing hard, the team scored a 1-2 finish and claimed the Drivers’ title with one round left. In third was the GLPK-Carsport entry but over 40 seconds behind the winning Maserati’s. The BMS Aston Martin’s filled the next two places ahead of the winning GT2 entry. Pole sitters, Zakspeed Saleen S7R, ran into problems, losing 16 laps and finishing down in 12th position. The Lamborghini Murcielago of All-Inkl.com only completed 46 laps.

The race was one of attrition with only 13 cars still running at the finish line. One of them was the Gillet Vertigo, finishing eleventh, a great result for the only G2 car in the field. Of the GT2 runners, it was Scuderia Ecosse who made the best of it. It was also a maiden GT2 win for the #63 car of Tim Mullen and Marino Franchitti who led home a Ferrari 1-2-3-4 in GT2.
