Race Performance's 2011 challenger

Today we look at what has happened while we were away, which is a bit actually...We have news from the Le Mans Series and the ALMS.

  • Loic Duval and Nicolas Lapierre will remain with Oreca in 2011. The two French drivers will drive a Peugeot powered car (well it is expected) but the details of the actual package have not been released. A third driver has not been signed as yet.

  • PlanetLeMans has reported that Jetalliance will race a Lotus Evora in the GT2 Class of the Le Mans Series and ILMC in 2011. The driver lineup has not been confirmed.
  • PlanetLeMans has also reported that Guess Racing will compete in LMP1 in the Le Mans Series in 2011. They will run a Lola B07/46 Mazda/AER package on Dunlop tyres. France’s Philippe Haezebrouck and German Wolfgang Kaufmann are confirmed as drivers at the moment and a third driver is being sort.
  • Race Performance will switch from a Radical to an Oreca LMP2 car for 2011. Race Performance will run the ORECA 03 in 2011, with the new Judd HK motor under the hood. Michel Frey, driver and manager, will once again drive the car and will be joined by Ralph Meichtry. A third driver has not been signed as yet.
  • South African constructor, Bailey seem to be pushing ahead with their proposed LMP releasing further details on their website and a mock up of their car. >More information be found on their site
  • Speed TV's John Dagys said on his Twitter that he expects five LMP1 cars for 2011. So that would include Highcroft, Intersport (who are advertising for LMP1 drivers on their site), Cytosport (who confirmed a return the ALMS in an interview with Dagys on speedtv.com but gave no further details), Dyson, Autocon (expected to run a limited campaign) and there are rumours of another - possibly Drayson. This adds to Level 5 who have committed to LMP2.
  • Dyson and BP have parted ways, something that surprised no one. Dyson will be supported by ModSpace for a one car effort at this time. It also hasn't been fully confirmed if the team will run LMP1 or 2 but surely the good money has to be on LMP1.
